Preparing for Memorial Day, 5-25-08

Every year since I have been a part of my husband's family one of the members joins the local VFW and makes sure all the graves of the military have a flag and the graves of family members have 'posies' for the year.

This year Mary, Larry, Cassie and Robert enjoyed the nice weather for this annual task.

These Mallards were used to people and had no trouble going right up to the picnic table to mooch treats. I kept chasing them away while we ate. Aunt Mary gave them treats when we were done.

We spent Memorial day weekend in the Upper Penninsula of Michigan with family. The pics were buried in the computer with the April birthday download. I found them because someone asked me for a current picture of my children and the last time I was sure of a son picture was on his birthday. Surprise!! Here are 15 pictures of Lake Surperior from Presque Isle in Marquette. I took some. Cassie went rock hopping and took some. It was hard to leave any of them out. Each is so different.

The Asphalt Caravan

A couple Saturdays ago I woke to find the house surrounded by all kinds of construction equipment. I had a need to investigate further, from the top porch. They were going to put an asphalt sealing on the parking lot of the shopping center around the corner. It did not take long for them to complete the job, and they were gone.
