The reunion
Felch, home of the 1975, 76, 77, 78 and 79 North Dickenson High School class reuion. It started at 3:00 pm. This is what the parking lot looked like then. It filled up at 5:00 because of the 'NO ALCHOHOL on site rule' Once a Yooper always a Yooper. BTW, the school colors are burgandy and white with a viking as a mascot. [North Dickenson--> Nor Diks---> Nordick's] The patriotic balloons were in celebration of the season.
Yes, the site holds the US post office, a 2 or 3 times a week walkin in clinic, the community kitchen, half a dozen horse shoe pits, a play ground, a batting cage, a covered picnic area large enough for half the county, with two pit grills and two fields for the Labor day weekend hard ball tournaments enjoyed from either the bleachers or the hood of your car.
Here is one of the fields from a distance. This is truly God's country.
This is the home team bleachers. The visitor's bleachers were rotting with Christmas trees growing between the seats. I gave a buddy from work fits because the Franklin visitor's bleachers were not welcoming. Felch wins.
Oh yeah, the way these middle aged high schoolers got around the alcohol rule was to keep their coolers in their cars and then make lots of trips to their cars.
Aunt Mary's before the reunion
We went North for a multiple year class reunion. This was not part of my world, but I was interested in what 'yoo per's' who graduated in the second half of the 1970's did since then. Below is a pic of Robert and Brian. Robert naps a lot.
Mary made a nice lunch to send us on our way to the reunion.
Larry is wearing a WA Hale run T-shirt. He changed into a plain colored shirt for the reunion and then put a UW sweatshirt over it when the sun went down. Do you think anyone figured out he was living in Wisconsin?

Robert, awake.

The send off
This is the world possessions of Cassie for the next 10 days while on the youth mission trip to Houma LA. Please note the transition from Hale green to Platteville orange/blue.
It took 2 trips to load the car. She is a pro at this, her 5th mission trip.
5:30am the day after the Summer Solstice.
1 normal person at 6:30 am. 1 precollege student at 6:30 am.

Parents watching the bus load. Last year I was the last parent to leave. This year I was one of the first. I am not transitioning well to an empty nester. Phil wants to know what my plans are for September. I will ride the waves.

These are the pics worthy of sharing. The rest have been relegated to the ether. I spent the day clicking and when it was over I discovered that there were wonderful guests who I missed with the shutter. Lenny, Karen, Sophi...... There are still more graduation parties and softball games to share. The blog allows 5 pics per post. I lost count of the posts of the grad party. Enjoy.
