Cassie's Graduation Party; Continued

This is all that is left of the cake... the picture.
I think this is Barrette's first graduation party.

Graduation Party

It was a perfect day for a party. Yeah Cassie. Below is Karen the mentor and JoAnn the cousin and in the middle the newest in the unbroken line of high school graduates since Ida Zastrow in 1899.
The obligatory picture of people taking pictures with Dinah and tall Tim looking on.
Three generations. Dad, daughter and grandaughter.
Tall Tim agreeing to pose. It is too cool.
(The blog will allow 5 pics in each entry. More to come of the 64 downloaded from the camera. The salvageable will come later. The really bad pics will be deleted.)

Nathan Hale graduation class of 2007

Somewhere in this mass of 380+ graduates is Cassandra. Three hours on a wooden indoor bleacher for the final time. (Half the time it took the pitocin to work) She completed her state required education. We no longer guide her world. She is already shaping it to her vision.

There is a video of the official handing of the diploma. Now I need to figure out how to get it into a usable form. I hope to do this by Saturday.

Memorial day weekend

This is Lake Edy from the bluff. This is where we used to camp.Cassie took pics of the flora of the day. I am not sure if these are columbine or something else.
I have no idea what this bush is.
Here is my favorite all time flower. It is a wood trillium. They grow wild in the ditches and all over the woods in late May for a very short time. I have tried to grow (purchased) them in my garden . They do not thrive in a dometicated setting. Here I am with Aunt Mary. We were just standing on the boat landing talking about this and that.

This is the color guard and school band at the memorial day parade. Kristine is in the second row of the clarinets. A double click on the photo should get you a better look.
Can you believe this is Aunt Mary. It is a bad picture of her with her mouth open, but the only one I have of the day. She does not look old enough to be Robert's baby sister. She was the first female of her family born on this continent. Sharon is doing grandma duty for my niece and her friends in the band by holding extra music and purses.
It's hard to believe Gen has been gone 15 years. She showed all who knew her what it meant to be a Christian woman. For this I am grateful.
Robert at 92. Larry at 50. Robert translated code during WWII in the Pacific. This is one of the things that I embraced with Larry's family. The times I came of age in were anti-everything. Here is a family that quietly understands what patriotism is. Aunt Mary puts flags out for the veterans who have passed, with the ladies of the axillary. Her husband fought in the war so she can help. She buys 'poseys' at the dollar store for the graves. Any grave without someone to put 'poseys' on it gets them anyway.
